We compare the calculated fluorescent signals resulting from K i for a duplex sequence without synthesis defects to test our approximation for Z extended,right and Z extended,left . a) If the same scaling factor C = C1 = C2 is used, the two curves differ in absolute values, but the shape is very similar. b) By choosing two different scaling factors C1,C2, the two curves overlap very well. This shows that our approximation for Z extended,right and Z extended,left is excellent.
